Photographer Loretta Lux take some insistently breathtaking photos. I find them extremely aesthetically attractive and very scary.
They give me a feeling of a realistic or naturalistic portrait. I sense the personality of those kids. But at the same time the photos clearly show how manipulated they are in colors and proportions and are therefore far from naturalistic at all. The background and the one portrayed uses or contains the same colors, and the head and body of the portrayed seems in some of the pictures out of proportion. And normally we are used to (we want to) see kids portrayed happy smiling and playing, but here they look serious, melancholic and even evil, some of them.
Great great work!
If you are hungry for getting a closer look, I can recommend her book.
